Allison Cusick

Allison Cusick is a graduate student in the Biological Oceanography PhD program with Dr Maria Vernet at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She manages the FjordPhyto citizen science project with Arctic & Antarctic tour operators and maintains a Woman Scientist blog with social media platforms. Allison has a background in neurobiology and immunology, as well as experience as a field biologist studying the habitat-use of various animals. She has also worked as a biological oceanographer studying the genetic response of diatoms to climate change and ocean acidification. Allison is passionate about researching environmental and wildlife issues and actively engages in outreach, education, and networking efforts to inspire others in the field.
