Chad Makovsky was named City of Phoenix Director of Aviation Services in March 2021, where he will provide executive leadership of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (DVT), and Phoenix Goodyear Airport (GYR).Chad is returning to Phoenix after serving as the Executive Vice President for the Operations Division at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport since March 2017. There he led the airport’s Department of Public Safety, Environmental Affairs, Sustainability, and Operations functions. Prior to DFW Airport, Mr. Makovsky worked as Assistant Aviation Director for the City of Phoenix system of airports, including Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix Deer Valley Airport, and Phoenix Goodyear Airport. He also held positions in operations at Burbank Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, and America West Airlines over his 30-year professional career.Mr. Makovsky serves on the American Association of Airport Executive’s IAAE Board and national Policy Review Committee. He is also actively engaged with Airports Council International, where he recently served on the distinguished ACI/AUVSI Blue Ribbon Task Force tasked with identifying UAS Mitigation Measures for Airports. He holds a Private Pilot’s License, a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Operations from St. Cloud State University, and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.
