Ira Sanders M.D. is a board certified Otolaryngologist previously on the full time faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. With the support of eight NIH grants he performed basic research on the anatomy of the human tongue and voice box. His 50 publications have been honored by his peers with 25 awards including the Casselberry Award, the Broyles-Maloney Award (three times'), a Shannon Award from the National Institutes of Health, and 6 cover photographs in both clinical and basic science journals, Another research interest was the clinical use of botulinum toxin and he has more than 20 awarded patents in the field. He pioneered many new uses for botulinum toxin including decreased sweat, saliva, sebum, allergic rhinitis, migraine headaches, skin wrinkles and others. In addition, he invented a novel device for sleep apnea and founded Linguaflex Inc to commercialize the invention. Specialties: sleep apnea, laryngology, medical devices, medical uses of botulinum toxin.
