17 years, bah, that doesn't count in the modern internet age. During the last five years I've successfully worked on and improving my skill set in the modern arena. How about deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes? Keeping up with the fast stream of releases of Elasticsearch? Creating a custom Puppet module or Ansible Role for HAProxy? Being responsible for metrics and performance observability using Prometheus? Building, running applications using Docker? This is my passion and it’s what I do for a living.One of my best skills is probably my motivation. I really like what I do, I've always liked doing this, what I described above is what really makes me tick. I thrive in small teams which make a starting point for good communication.On a personal level, when I'm not trekking or riding my bicycle in the Lavaux wine fields, I like to play around with home automation and MQTT using cloud providers like Exoscale, Vultr, Scaleway and DigitalOcean. Making the connection between the virtual world (computers) and physical one (lamps and window blinds) is very pleasing and is a stark contrast to the all-virtual world.
