Jeanne Allen, a University of Washington graduate, and her husband Marc Grant began designing clothes in the mid-1970s and built their company, Jeanne-Marc, into a highly regarded business over the next 25 years. After launching their line of apparel in San Francisco it soon appeared in upscale specialty stores across the nation, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to name two, as well as retailers in Europe and in Japan. They were featured in People magazine because of their famous clientele, their green factory was recognized by the United Nations and City of San Francisco as "a great place to work" and they were elected to the Council of American Fashion Designers (CFDA). Ms. Allen also was a City Commissioner, Chamber of Commerce Director and cultural/economic representative for the City of San Francisco to Japan and Asia. She served as President of Women’s Forum West from 1996-1998. Jeanne has authored eight books on color, fashion and Japanese prints for Chronicle Books. She is an ardent advocate of art, architecture and urban preservation. She served as the first Executive Director of the Fashion Incubator San Francisco at Macy’s Union Square (FiSF). FiSF is a non- profit corporation dedicated to promoting emerging fashion businesses in San Francisco. Jeanne continues to serve on the FiSF Board of Directors.
