I am a results-orientated, pragmatic and enthusiastic IT professional with over 20 years of software development experience. This includes 5+ years hands on coding experience as a systems software engineer, progressing to development management and culminating with over 10 years experience at senior management. A self-starter who can work proactively with minimal supervision. Over this period I have had extensive experience of technical people management including hiring/firing, motivating and building up a software development department to a total of 35+ people. I also have 10+ years experience of project and product change & release management. I am also technically strong but ultimately customer and business driven with a keen focus on quality and developing software that meets the market/customer requirements in the timeframe and budget imposed, applying appropriate software techniques and procedures to meet this goal. I have been responsible for the management and deployment of numerous complex commercial products into the market place. These products have mainly been software tools and web systems, ranging from language interpreter's, database products and enterprise application understanding/modelling products to more recently a component integration broker to support e-business & web initiatives via a Service Orientated Architecture. Numerous Fortune 500 and FT500 companies use these tools to run their business; hence the software needs to be robust and scalable to support 1,000’s of concurrent users.
