Paul Boulden

Paul is one of the founders of Appendix R Solutions, Inc. In mid 2000, Paul helped build the business case for Appendix R Solutions—a startup company based in Richmond, VA to help electric utilities improve nuclear safety and compliance through improved fire protection. Since that time, Paul has helped lead the growth of ARS from 2 employees to over 40 today, while also building the infrastructure and operations required to support customers around the globe. Paul is passionate about nuclear safety and continues to actively participate in safety assessments both domestically and internationally. Paul is a co-author of “NFPA 805 and Fire PRA Insights”,which provides key insights on lessons learned based on implementation of risk informed analyses at US nuclear plants. Paul has over 35 years of nuclear experience including plant operations, electrical, and fire protection, as well as extensive experience with Appendix R, NUREG 0800, and NFPA 805. Prior to forming ARS, Paul’s experience included work with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Dominion Resources, Sargent & Lundy, and the US Navy where he began his career as a submariner in the navy nuclear power program.Paul and his wife Tammy reside on a small farm in Hanover, Virginia.
