Since 1998, Dr. Qunfeng Dong has devoted his career to research in technological fields centered around networking, computing and data, including but not limited to Computer Network, Parallel Processing, Algorithms, Architecture, Hardware Acceleration, BigData, Security, etc. As a major contributor, he has published research works at premium conferences including NSDI, ACM SIGMETRICS, ACM MobiCom, ACM PPoPP, ACM MobiHoc, ANCS, IPSN, IEEE ICNP, IEEE INFOCOM, etc. During his academic career as a computer science professor with University of Science and Technology of China, Dr. Qunfeng Dong published the very first NSDI paper that has ever been accomplished by native universities of the Greater China area (Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore). As a university professor, he had been a happy man receiving positive feedbacks from students taking his courses; one of his undergraduate courses was ranked No.2 by students, out of the 462 undergraduate courses in that semester of USTC.After 15 years of research and teaching in universities, Dr. Qunfeng Dong joined Huawei as a Chief Scientist & CTO of the Central Hardware Engineering Institute (CHEI). As the Chief Scientist on computing architecture, Dr. Qunfeng Dong has envisioned, steered and led strategic moves on development of future computing architectures with 10X-100X performance, energy efficiency, cost efficiency. As the CTO on hardware acceleration, he has the honor to found and work with an outstanding team of researchers and engineers, and successfully developed a series of world class hardware acceleration technologies and products with innovative algorithmic and architectural methods for accelerating data processing, employing hardware technologies including FPGA, GPU, APU, etc. Many of these outperform the world's best existing solutions by impressive advantages. He also served as the founding Chair of CHEI's Algorithm Management Committee, and served on Huawei's Algorithm Committee.
Qunfeng Dong is a highly experienced computer science professor with 18.8 years of work experience. He specializes in distributed systems, algorithms, and FPGA, with a strong focus on networking, computing, and data. Dr. Qunfeng Dong has published research works at premium conferences and has published several NSDI papers. He has also been a major contributor to the field, including being a computer science professor with the University of Science and Technology of China. Currently, he serves as the Chief Scientist & CTO of the Central Hardware Engineering Institute (CHEI), where he has successfully developed world-class hardware acceleration technologies and products.
