Abigail Lennon

Throughout my life, I have always known that I wanted to work with people. Going into college, I felt passionate about this decision, but I had not yet decided on which specific route to take. I began at the University of Tampa as an Elementary Education major. The courses I took gave me real world experience, knowledge, and insight. I learned patience, compassion, and new teaching and learning techniques. After three semesters, I was aware that I was not passionate about becoming a teacher. I decided to reroute, and I changed my major to Applied Sociology. This major gave me a broad overview of individuals and groups from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. I learned about different cultures, how to be a more understanding person, how to empower, and ultimately why people do the things they do, and what actions I can take in order to help improve the world, even if it is just slightly. I graduated from the University of Tampa in May 2020 having gained my Bachelor of Arts in Applied Sociology. After reflecting on my passions, I decided on a career path: human resources. To continue on this path, I am a current graduate student at Southern New Hampshire University gaining my Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. My current goal is to obtain an entry-level position in my field of study that will allow me to utilize and expand upon my collegiate, community, and internship experiences and activities.
