I have been around computers for a very long time. Started at Northwestern Bell in the mail room (after normal high-school jobs etc.). Because I was a very fast typist, I moved to clerical duties and was given an opportunity to work with computers. The rest is history. Worked at (Northwestern Bell -> US West -> Qwest), First Data, CSG International. I have never been let go/laid off from a company and have always had a high performance rating. In my career, I have been involved with five major data center moves and many Disaster Recovery off-sites. Currently working with Dell and HP Proliants running rhel/centos/xenserver. Involved with many different applications. Maintain LVS firewall/load balancers, which hosts externally facing DMZ sftp/webservers. Work closely with off-shore groups from India and Sri-Lanka. Self-starter who creates and manages most initiatives for servers under my control to keep them online and as secure as possible. I have met so many very talented people in my career who I have learned so much from. I can't thank them enough for all the extra knowledge I have accumulated over the years. Things are changing so rapidly now, so strap yourself in and be prepared for what's coming is all I can say.
