Alex Andreou

My practice focuses on dispute resolution, commercial contracts, and international trade regulation. My current focus is sustainability in the shipping sector, advising on the regulatory and contractual risks arising out of emissions regulations, such as amendments to MARPOL Annex VI and the proposed expansion of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, and attending working groups of international organisations. I spent two years working in the international trade team of the UK's Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, where I was responsible for bringing the Electronic Trade Documents Bill before Parliament. As part of this role, I also negotiated on behalf of the UK in international forums, particularly the World Trade Organisation and the G7. I now support clients in respect of electronic bills of lading and have experience drafting software as a service agreements for electronic bills. My particular geographical focus is the Japanese shipping market.
