Allison Welch

I am currently a senior at Illinois State University’s Mennonite College of Nursing. My expected graduation date is May 2017. Through my courses so far, I have participated in six clinical rotations in acute care, long-term care, maternal infant, psychiatric and mental health, public health, and pediatric clinicals. Through these clinical experiences I have been continuously learning how to apply the skills, techniques, and patient-centered care in a healthcare settings with the help of driven, knowledgeable staff. January 2015 - May 2015 I was a trained volunteer in the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) at Advocate BroMenn. Through this experience, I was able to gain experience with a wide variety of patients in which I facilitated communication and social support, daily exercise and walking assistance, support and companionship during meals, and cognitive stimulation. Through this program I was able to solidify my interest and drive in helping others.
