About
I grew up in the Midwest, where I witnessed several jaw-dropping sunsets and endured harsh winters and brutal summers. Then I moved to North Carolina to teach students from limited-income, rural, racially diverse backgrounds as part of Teach For America. After my TFA commitment ended, I moved to the DMV area to explore a larger city and to teach 1st grade in Ward 8 of Washington D.C. Now, I'm an elementary teacher at a Montessori school in Northern Virginia. Throughout my collegiate and professional careers, I’ve taught preschool, kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. I've also cared for children of all ages as part of church, summer camp, and private childcare. I love exploring, reading and going for long runs. My primary goal is to use my life to bring light into the lives of others. I can’t leave the house without some sort of beverage and a generous application of sunscreen. My ideal day is spent outside, under bright sunshine, doing just about anything that gives glory to my Creator. I’m organized, to a fault, and long to bring my very best efforts to every situation I find myself in. When I’m not working, it’s likely that I am spending time with little children, playing and finding ways to show them just how much they are loved. Or you might find me watching KU basketball, listening to NPR podcasts, or reading the New York Times. Professional Highlights: --Taught 100+ students across 4 grade levels over the course of 5 years in urban, suburban, rural settings --Recipient of Teach For America Core Value Award for achieving impact and delivering meaningful outcomes --Taught English to Italian-speaking preschool students and an Italian host family --Provided private child care services for over 30 children from more than 16 families --Utilized conversational/professional level of Spanish fluency to translate curriculum documents for my grade level teams & the students we served --Exhibited teacher leadership in majority-Black, majority-Latinx, and majority-international-student settings P.S.
