About
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Otterbein College with a double major in Life Sciences and Physics and a minor in Chemistry in 1995; furthermore, I earned a Master of Science degree in Biophysics from The Ohio State University in 1999. After receiving my graduate degree, I have had the opportunity to teach classes in all three major branches of science (biology, physics, and chemistry) at Columbus State Community College, Otterbein College, Central Ohio Technical College, and Franklin University. My love for science, and its applications, has not only influenced my teaching style, but has also deepened my interest in the use of technology to engage students. I have had the good fortune to be “in the right place at the right time” as I have been involved in large-scale course redesign projects at Columbus State Community College, Otterbein College, and Central Ohio Technical College. This work led to my nomination as a Redesign Scholar by the National Center of Academic Transformation as part of their Colleagues Committed to Course Redesign (C2R) program. This gave me the opportunity to meet and work with faculty from more than 50 institutions to support their efforts in improving learning through the innovative use of educational technologies.I am passionately committed to teaching science to adult learners. I am fortunate to not only have had the opportunity to teach at multiple institutions; I have also had the opportunity to mentor other instructors as the Biological and Physical Sciences Department Chair at Central Ohio Technical College and (currently) as the Science and Mathematics Department Chair for the Franklin University enterprise.
