I have a BSEE from UNC-Charlotte with an interest in RF, Control Systems, and Electronics Engineering disciplines. I am currently an Electrical Engineer with Lionel LLC headquartered in Concord, NC. Lionel provides a wide range of model trains and accessories. Since 1900 their products have been both a family tradition and heirloom. Today’s Lionel trains feature amazing detail, modern electronics, and controls and meet the needs of children and beginners to the most discriminating collector. In the past I was part of the team to develop the first UL listed Solid-State Circuit Breaker where I designed and optimized printed circuit layouts while coordinating with the mechanical group to ensure proper clearances. I was part of the team that was able to bring PCB design in-house to reduce turn time and increase quality. I was responsible for greatly improving the radiated and conducted emissions of our product to be CISPR 11 compliant by following good layout practices. I have worked in the medium and heavy duty vehicle design space where I electrical assemblies in natural gas fuel systems. Our products reduced millions of tons of carbon emissions by replacing carbon heavy diesel tractors with clean burning natural gas tractors. Our products were also capable of accurate fuel measurements through various electrical sensors and through J1939 we could send messages to the engine to improve fuel economy and limit output power in the event of low fuel so that the driver could get to a fueling station. I was also part of a dynamic team of engineers and technicians providing top-tier design services in the spaces of mechanical and electrical design as well as machining for prototyping of mechanical assemblies. Our projects encompassed PLC and HMI programming, PCBA design, Embedded Systems and FPGA Design. Our range of industry included Aerospace, Manufacturing, Medical, and much more.
