About

I covered the 2020 US Presidential election and ensuing controversy as a contributor for Croatia’s CNN affiliate N1. My involvement with the former Eastern Bloc is not new. I spent my childhood in the Soviet Union where my father served as Attaché to the US Embassy. Later, I lived in Germany, Great Britain, and Hong Kong. In the late 1980s, I served as an airborne infantryman (U.S. Army) assigned to "The Old Guard" at Ft. Myer (3rd U.S. Infantry); recalled to active duty for the First Gulf War. My broadcast career began in 1994 and took me to stations throughout the United States. I eventually landed at CBS Newspath covering Capitol Hill during the lead-up to the Second Gulf War. In 2003, I went back to the Middle East as the only embedded television correspondent to enter Iraq without a support crew. As a result, I became the first war correspondent to win an Emmy Award working alone. In 2004, Fox News Channel added me to its lineup of Iraq correspondents. During my time in Iraq, I covered the battles of Fallujah, interdiction missions along the Syrian border and assignments into the “triangle of death.” My series, “Stack in Iraq” won three regional Emmy Awards for journalistic enterprise and same day feature. My footage was featured in the PBS documentary, “Operation Homecoming” which won two national Emmy Awards and an Oscar Nomination for best documentary (2008). I spent the ensuing decade studying the effects of central banking on the global economy. As a multimedia instructor, I've taught and mentored professional and citizen journalists living and reporting in Pakistan and Mexico with as little as a smartphone. Throughout my career, I’ve combined my passion for news with a love of the outdoors. I’ve been a certified alpine ski and snowboard instructor as well as a mountain bike instructor and guide for most of my life.
