Ann Meyer

Journalist and media strategist Ann Meyer has international honors in three areas: journalism, business and the academic study of nonprofits. She is an editor covering technology and fuels in the convenience store industry for CSPDailyNews.com at Winsight Media in Chicago. After two decades as a business reporter and editor, Meyer returned to consumer news in 2018 and served as education reporter for Savannah Morning News, a newspaper now owned by Gannett, where she produced over 360 news stories and data projects, shot hundreds of photos, and edited video and audio content. In 2021, she moved to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and covered local government, business and the environment in Michigan and Wisconsin for the EagleHerald newspaper, based in Marinette, Wis. Previously, she ran a media services company, which was profitable for over 25 years. She's also taught communications to business students at the University of Illinois-Chicago. As president of L3C Chicago, she created enterprise news content for media companies for decades and developed original media strategies, including creating the idea for a broadcast show based on a fast-pitch event, which was the inspiration for ABC's "Shark Tank." The company was instrumental in the launch of Retail Leader (www.RetailLeader.com) for Stagnito Media. Meyer also launched SmallBusinessExecutive (www.SmallBizChicago.com) in 2010, forerunner to the Chicago Tribune's Blue Sky Innovation. Meyer launched and wrote two weekly columns for the Chicago Tribune's Business pages and was a regular contributor for 12 years. Her small business website was designed with the Tribune in mind. The Chicago-area native served for about a decade as editor of The Catalog & Web Marketer and NSM Report; as managing editor of Dairy Foods magazine; as associate editor of Mature Outlook magazine and as freelance editor of Mature Outlook Newsletter. Meyer holds a BSJ from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, where she was awarded "done diploma" honors for her accomplishments. She received Delta Mu Delta honors in business while earning a master's degree in nonprofit administration with distinction from North Park University in 2011. She also holds international lifetime honors in journalism from Quill & Scroll and international honors in nonprofit academics from Nu Lambda Mu. She thanks DePaul University for providing a journalism scholarship in 2017 that allowed her to bring her digital skills in video, audio and data journalism up to date.
