About

I am a computer scientist whose primary focus is on developing novel machine learning methods to extract useful information from complex datasets. My experience, however, has covered intellectually wide-ranging areas spanning several disciplines in artificial intelligence, biology, and chemistry. Knowledge graph analysis In my current research project, I utilise large-scale knowledge graph machine learning approaches to discover novel drug targets that have evidence of disease association. Cheminformatics I previously worked on developing multi-label classification models applied to imbalanced toxicity datasets with missing labels. Bioinformatics In addition, I wanted to explore another way to be influential by becoming a Teaching Assistant for Master and PhD level computer science courses. Throughout this role, I mentored students enrolled in the Applications of AI in Bioinformatics course to complete several research projects including DNA transcription initiation sites recognition, DNA PolyA signal recognition, DNA acceptor and donor splice sites recognition, and acronym finding from biomedical literature. Text-mining As a Master's student, I was in charge of a text-mining project to extract associations between methylated genes and diseases from the scientific literature. Image Processing As an ambitious researcher, my aspiration has expanded. I wanted to investigate another research area to which my skills are transferable. I enjoyed working on applications of deep learning on 2D and 3D medical images. --- I love communicating science as much as I love creating it! I have presented at conferences and workshops and published papers in top journals. I enjoy working with diverse teams where there are opportunities for cultural-exchange! I constantly work on expanding my knowledge and experience professionally and personally.
