Experienced professional with 23 years in a CEO position in the public service. I have been deeply involved in policy formulation and more importantly implementation of sugar reform programmes in the economic, developmental, social and environmental domains. I had the leading role in the design and management of wide portfolios of projects, in several areas namely: sugar sector, renewable energy, land reforms, planning and development, insurance. Projects included the Bagasse Energy Development Programme which witnessed the increase of bagasse based electricity from 70 to 350 GWh; the shift from the production of raw to that of white sugars; Voluntary Retirement Schemes which concerned some 18 000 employees from the field, factory and office sectors. The redeeming feature of these Schemes is that they were designed and implemented in a socially and economically acceptable manner.In June 2009, I joined BDO Mauritius. I act within the firm but am also able to work as an independent consultant. I am responsible for sugar, commodity, energy, land development and trade matters. In my assignments, I have covered every aspect of my zone of responsibility, for instance, the Mid Term Review of the ten year sugar reform plan of Government (Multi Annual Adaptation Strategy (MAAS) 2006 -2015); the medium to long term feasibility of Rose Belle SE; the preparation of a comprehensive dossier on harmonious land development in line with urban and environmental best practice; the development of the ethanol cluster of Omnicane and the future strategies of Omnicane, including the Mon Trésor Smart City; and the development of sustainability performance indices.Of late, I was a member in an individual capacity of the team led by Landell Mills that has prepared a multi-dimensional, economic, financial, environmental and social, ten year plan for the future of the sugar cane industry in the teeth of deep price cuts and enhanced competition on the EU Market.
