Almost straight out of law school I started handling appeals. I was also a trial lawyer, however, so the time I could spend in appellate proceedings was limited by the time demands of trial work. Over the next decade or two my appellate practice grew to dominate my time, and I liked it that way.In 2004, Phil Burlington and I decided to leave our respective firms to form Burlington & Rockenbach, P.A.. The venture has been extremely successful, and the firm has grown from two attorneys and one paralegal to five attorneys and six full time staff members. The firm handles more than 100 appeals a year, in addition to a demanding trial support schedule.I enjoy the trial support work because it allows me to use my trial lawyer background. The focus is on creating a working partnership with trial counsel to provide strategic insight and creative solutions to find the best way to win any case.
