I've been working as a Microsoft .Net Developer, primarily web development, since 2006, and I'm lovin'​ it. Before that I was a Cobol developer working on a Tandem mainframe for around 8 years. And before that I worked as a Technical Application Manager on the Tandem mainframe. All based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I was stationed at Soesterberg AB, The Netherlands, with the U.S.A.F. In 1988, I was placed in the Data Processing Center (before that in Telecommunications). I had finally found out what I wanted to be when I grew up, become a software developer. I just had a nack for it and enjoyed it immensely. After 8 years as a Cobol programmer working on a corporate banking application (Aleri's Atlas application) I was able to retrain in 2006 as a Microsoft .Net Developer, actually a dream of mine for years. It's a tough but wonderful way of life. Cobol was static yet .Net is constantly moving, maybe too fast. Keeping up is pretty tough, but fortunately for me I've had the opportunity to work on some interesting projects that keep broadening my horizons.
