Barry Lajoie

I have over 25 years of relevent environmental health and safety experience. I spent the next 6 years after graduating with a BS degree from CalPoly San Luis Obispo, working as an environmental analytial chemist. My background in analtyical chemistry has proven valuable time and again in my career. I then moved to the San Luis Obispo Air Pollution Control District where I developed a strong background in land use planning, CEQA, emission estimation methodologies and risk assessments. In addition, I played an important role in very public soil and groundwater remediation effort, helping develop exposure monitoring and sample analysis procedures, data reduction protocols and participating in public meetings. From the APCD I moved to the Morro Bay Power Plant beginning my involvement with the electric power generation industry. My responsibilities included oversight of all aspects of the facility's environmental compliance program including air (Title V), water (NPDES and storm water permits), hazardous materials (CalARP) and hazardous waste (including RCRA permited facility permit) to name a few. I made a lateral move to the Moss Landing Power Plant, owned and operated by the same companies. Here I was one of three EHS professionals, my primary responsibilities being oversight of the hazardous materials and hazardous waste management programs. I did, however, support air and water related issues at the plant. I then accepted a postion with NAES Corporation as an Environmental Project Manager (EPM). As an EPM I supported the EHS compliance programs at 5 power plants throughout the US including a bio-mass facility, a reciprocating engine plant and several gas-turbine plants. Most recently, I worked with PPMS, LLC as an EHS Compliance Supervisor, working remotely from home supporting and managing the EHS programs at three power plants.
