About

Since 1996 I have worked in the steel, aircraft, oil and gas and nuclear / conventional power generation industries in metallurgy and materials engineering roles, most recently as a contract Materials Engineer at MB Aerospace involved in the metallographic inspection of raw and heat-treated metallic materials for use in gas turbine blades, and the inspection of finished blade coatings and machining. Previously I worked for Leonardo Helicopters (formerly AgustaWestland) performing metallurgical failure investigations on helicopter components and was also heavily involved in failure investigations while working at E.ON and Messier Dowty. In the steel industry (Corus Engineering Steels &New Zealand Steel) I engaged in product development through co-ordination of new product production trials and investigating process - property correlations. I became a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Professional Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (MIMMM) in 2008. Skills/Experience: Metallurgical laboratory failure analysis, mechanical testing, metallography/fractography, optical & electron microscopy, EDX analysis, conducting/reporting steel product development trials, participation in collaborative industrial materials R&D. I am British and reside in the UK but am also a New Zealand Permanent Resident, having previously emigrated in 2002, and so am eligible to live and work in New Zealand.
