Solicitor specialising in criminal defence, professional discipline and civil claims against public authorities, with particular focus on the representation of police officers. I have substantial experience in: - complex criminal litigation, having represented clients charged with homicide, sexual and drug offences, as well as fraud, perverting the course of justice, misconduct in public office and perjury. - defending clients charged with road traffic offences. I have represented clients charged with causing death by dangerous driving (cases which have attracted national interest) through to speeding and excess alcohol cases. I have significant experience in advancing special reasons and exceptional hardship arguments on behalf of clients in order to attempt to avoid disqualification from driving. - Police misconduct investigations, meetings and proceedings, under various sets of Conduct Regulations. I have also represented officers appearing before the Police Appeals Tribunal. - Advising and representing clients in applications for judicial review. - Coroners’ inquests. - Civil actions for false imprisonment, assault, trespass, malicious prosecution and misfeasance in public office. I am a qualified duty solicitor, therefore have years of experience in appearing in the Magistrates’ Courts. I have conducted numerous Magistrates’ Court trials with considerable success. I also have a busy practice in private client work. In relation to Wills, I am able to advise in relation to the more straight forward matters through to the more complex that require trusts and estate planning. I am also instructed to administer estates and to prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney. A further and more niche area of my practice is advising in relation to contentious probate cases, including validity claims and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
