Benny Mattis

A serial alumni of faith-based and secular service, I've filled roles pertaining to disaster relief, urban agriculture, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, management, instructional design, and various modes of direct support. These roles have been spread across the United States in locations as varied as Vinton, IA; Detroit, MI; Mount Vernon, KY; Washington, DC; Los Angeles, CA; Denton, TX; and Denver, CO. As an independent scholar of philosophy, I've presented my papers at seven conferences in the United States, Canada, and Portugal. I received the Jonathan Edwards Prize for a paper I wrote on artificial intelligence as an undergraduate, and I specialized in Social and Applied Philosophy as a graduate student, but philosophy of religion endures as the area of concentration to which I return most frequently. Lately, I've been building and practicing skills in web development and software engineering through Catchafire and Codecademy.
