My connection to palliative care began at age 14 when I responded to an ad on Craigslist (normal back then), to provide administrative support for a hospice. I never expected the early volunteering experience stuffing and stamping letters would blossom into a career of diverse experiences as a palliative care clinician and advocate. As a Board Certified Music Therapist, my work surrounds supporting patients and families through highly individualized expressive therapy. (Think: facilitating expression after a stroke, promoting comfort during an invasive procedure, and supporting relationship closure at end of life, to name a few). I have extensive experience building successful music therapy programs, a highly effective resource for both healthcare organizations and patients. My experience in medical music therapy covers across the lifespan from premature babies in the NICU to late-stage Dementia and individuals in the last moments of life.
