With more than 22 years of experience Advocating for battered persons and their children, my career began in Bronx Family Court as Victim Advocate for Safe Horizon's Family Court Legal Program. As the bilingual Advocate and Court counselor , Safe Horizon advocates worked closely with the petition room staff and Spanish speaking immigrant community. Working with the underserved and indigent to provide and access to services including Orders of protection and Safety planning as well as court accompaniment and shelter assistance for those family's at risk . From Crisis Intervention to independent living services , front line presence in court, until legal services are in place and victim has had wrap around services to move him or her forward from victim to survivor .
