Bill Lais

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of South Florida in 1993, and became licensed as a Florida Professional Engineer in 2000. I have enjoyed a successful career in consulting for nearly 25 years, and my peers tell me that my best traits are my capacity to learn, my approachability, and my genuine honesty. I attribute these qualities to the mentoring received from former and current peers and colleagues, and experience gained while assisting clients on complex regulatory issues and design challenges. With a strong academic background and professional experience based in engineering design, construction, regulatory compliance, and environmental remediation, I have developed a niche for unlocking property value at contaminated sites by incorporating elements of sustainability and green design practices into my everyday practice. I have presented platform presentations on sustainability topics in Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Nevada, California, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico. I recently had the honor of serving as project manager and lead design engineer for a green remediation project for a national defense contractor that won three individual client awards in 2009, and was nominated in 2010 for a Best Practice Award through Sustainable Florida, Collins Center for Public Policy.
