I have been in the Employee benefits arena for 20+ years with a focus on retirement funding/pensions. I have worked extensively with administration of defined benefit and defined contribution pension and provident funds and related benefits, and have worked with a number of boards of trustees to ensure the good governance and operation of their retirement funds. Over the last 10 years I have been working with a number of pension and benefit arrangements across the African continent in the application of governance, benefit policies and strategy supporting the business as well as the Trustees/custodians of the various arrangements. Further to this, I support the business with sale/acquisition/outsource transactions to support required negotiations from the HR perspective and ensure the most appropriate benefits are in place and agreed with representative unions to meet the requirements of S197 of the Labour Relations Act in South Africa while ensuring fair treatment of affected employees and limiting the cost impact to the business where transactions are concluded as a going concern.I perform this work in a specialist role within the greater Reward team with Human Resources in the application of the business reward philosophy supporting the overall business ambitions and requirements.
