Blake Masterson

I am an Economics and Spanish Major at Vanderbilt University. My academic background has allowed me to learn more about why and how markets work effectively, as well as why and how they might not work properly. This knowledge has driven my interest in the finance world. Through my time as a summer intern, I have gained experience in the fields of Public Finance and Marketing. More specifically, I worked in the Public Finance Group at Mesirow Financial and was also exposed to the Institutional Sales and Trading side of the municipal securities business. I found the process of helping municipalities think through and execute the most cost effective ways to structure their debt using creative bond issues fascinating. To have the opportunity to then see how those bond issues were distributed in the open market on the sales and trading side gave me a much fuller grasp on the fundamentals and drivers of the industry. I hope to continue to learn more about the finance world as a whole and improve my understanding of its many synergies.
