Bob Kane

Bob is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer for the World Surf League and the General Counsel for the Kelly Slater Wave Company. The WSL has been dedicated to celebrating the world's best surfing on the world's best waves since 1976, annually running more than 180 global events across the Men's and Women's Championship Tours, the Big Wave Tour, Airborne, Qualifying Series, Junior and Longboard Championships, as well as the WSL Big Wave Awards. Kelly Slater Wave Company provides wave technology, branding and know how in producing high quality surf destinations with developers in the hospitality, recreation, retail and residential sectors. As an amenity to real estate, the business capitalizes on the popularity of the beach lifestyle, the un-met demands of recreational wave riders and the value of spectator attractions. Kelly Slater Wave Company owns and operates Surf Ranch in Lemoore California. Prior to joining the WSL & KSWC, Bob was Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of WarnerMedia (formerly, Time Warner), a global leader in media and entertainment. He oversaw the legal work on corporate/financial reporting, capital raising activities, corporate governance, corporate communications, corporate social responsibility, and strategy. From 2008 until 2009, Bob was Executive Director, Assistant General Counsel for JPMorgan Chase & Co. In that role, he oversaw the legal work on corporate/financial reporting, capital raising activities, corporate governance and general corporate legal matters. Bob was previously at Bear, Stearns & Co. Where he was Managing Director. Prior to that, he was in private practice, with nearly 14 years’ experience at Proskauer Rose LLP. Bob has a proven record of advising executive officers and directors on legal matters. Bob’s career reflects success in implementing process improvements, effecting cost savings, analyzing legal and regulatory issues impacting operations, evaluating risks/opportunities, and formulating legal strategies to advance companies’ interests. Expertise includes: board relations; investor relations; strategic advisor (nearly 14 years advising public/private businesses); corporate governance; contract negotiation; M&A; securities offerings (IPOs, debt and equity offerings); financing arrangements; corporate/financial reporting and other securities filings; employment, compensation and equity plans; general corporate matters (including SOX); and management (legal teams, projects, outside counsel and fees).
