Bonnie Downs is the Communications Director for the Commissioner Representing Employers of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). She develops and coordinates office messaging, public information, which advocates for over 620,000 Texas employers and 3 million small businesses. Prior to TWC, she served at the Texas Veterans Commission for 5 ½ years as an Education Outreach Specialist, assisting in marketing, promotional, and outreach campaigns for the Veterans Education Program. She is a graduate of Arizona State University and a Veteran of the United States Army. Prior to attending college, she enlisted and served in the Military Police Corps for 5 years and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. During her enlistment, she deployed multiple times for peacekeeping missions that include Task Force Rijeka in Croatia and Task Force Constanta in Romania. She also served in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a team leader. While serving in Iraq, she provided security, oversight and training for four Iraqi police stations in eastern Baghdad and mentored over 500 Iraqi police officers. Bonnie is also a recipient of the Combat Action Badge awarded from her tour in Iraq. She enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and makes a point to challenge herself each and every day. Outside of the office, she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and watching all Texas sports.
