I am a member of the Investor Relations team at Verizon Communications in Basking Ridge, NJ. We are responsible for the overall messaging of financial results to the investment community, financial analysts and any users of our financial statements. Prior to this, I worked in the Revenue Accounting department at Verizon in Lake Mary, FL as the Manager of New Products and Services. I managed a team who acted as representatives of the Revenue Accounting team on all new products and services for Verizon. We worked with cross-functional Project Management teams to understand the new offerings, research the proper accounting treatment, and test the system processing prior to launch. I was also involved in interviewing and screening potential new accounting staff and part of the onboarding training team. Previously, I was the Technical Accounting Mgr for Raytheon in the aerospace and defense industry. I was responsible for periodic financial reporting submissions to the corporate headquarters. I also provided analysis of revenue recognition policies and procedures in order to ensure the Company was recording revenue in accordance with POC accounting and other key accounting standards. I was a member of various company policy teams which ensured that critical accounting policies appropriately reflected current US GAAP. I worked with KPMG from August 2005 until January 2012 primarily in external audit in the Orlando, FL office. My clients included a Fortune 50 financial services company, a multinational industrial products company, various banking and government contract companies. I participated in an 18 month secondment to the Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance Services group in the Brisbane KPMG office in Australia. There I worked as an advisor to many companies in a variety of areas including internal controls assessments, SOX compliance, government project audits and compliance reviews. My main clients were mining companies and government infrastructure projects.
