I currently am working at Superior Integrated Systems as a Senior Controls Engineer, and I have extensive LabVIEW experience. Through X-Rite I have used LabVIEW to write software for their final test fixtures. In my position I do anything from maintain old test fixtures to build new ones. I work hand in hand with production and engineering to make sure the product can be tested accurately. I have also developed code using C# .NET for some board level test fixtures. One of the major projects I have done was to create a test executor using LabVIEW. The old test software was almost impossible to maintain, and very time consuming to create new tests and update old ones. Therefore I created a test executor written entirely in LabVIEW that is both easily maintainable and very expandable. Along with this new software a database was created that would store and retrieve the test data for anyone to view. There have also been a large number of small side projects that I have developed in a very quick time frame. One of which was a lamp life test. There currently was no data on how long a lamp would last and what happened to the lamp throughout its life. Within days I created software and a fixture using LabVIEW and National Instruments DAQ hardware to monitor the lamp throughout an accelerated life test. I have also used FPGA tools inside of LabVIEW. There was a need to prototype a new design for an instrument, but there was no way to develop anything quickly that would prove out some valuable concepts. I then created software using LabVIEW and the FPGA software module and National Instruments FPGA hardware to simulate how firmware would interact with the design and quickly got a prototype instrument operational.
