I am a railwayman that likes change which is no small thing in an industry which views progression with skepticism and suspicion.Change however is a wonderful thing but it's implementation can either divide us or fail to achieve its full potential when met with resistance.I have enjoyed working through those challenges, buying into the dreams change creates and tenaciously sticking with it long after others have thrown in the towel. Being able to see the concerns of others and adapt my approach with a conciliatory demeanor has helped me achieve great things.I played a systematic role in turning a heritage railway which was banned by the ORR from running passenger trains into an operational line with a full set of operational standards complete with a competent management system and bespoke training package to match.I was also able to produce a clear and concise rule book which gained acceptance from industry experts and the ex-British Rail staff who volunteered for the railway. This was no small feat considering the struggle to implement the latest safety standards with colleagues who would only accept the 1950's BR Rule Book.Back in the modern world and I am looking for roles which require critical decision making, contain a level of responsibility and that give me the opportunity to make a positive impact on the railway.The positions I have held thus far have provided me with a solid foundation from which I can call upon to provide calm, level headed and practical solutions to increasingly high pressure situations, and I hope that my future ventures will continue to provide the great opportunities that I have been blessed with to date.
