Brandon Polifrone

I am a newly graduated nursing student and patient care assistant, seeking to start my career as a nurse in a medical surgical nurse residency program. This would be a great opportunity to learn and develop my skills as a new nurse, allowing me in turn to provide quality care to the patients. Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to work as a Patient Care Assistant on a medical surgical unit which has helped me hone my time management and patient care skills. This has provided me with the experience of ambulating, positioning toileting, cleaning pre and post-operative spine, hip, and knee patients, collecting vitals signs and blood sugar, and reporting abnormal readings to the nurse. It has also provided me the opportunity to familiarize myself with the type of care required on that unit while learning about it in school and even gave me my first experience performing CPR while floating to the ICU. I have also had the opportunity to participate in a Direct Education Unit (DEU) clinical rotation during my senior year which has provided me better insight into how nurses handle and organize the care of their patients each shift. This experience has also provided me with more opportunities to hone medication administration skills and practice priming IV lines.
