Brandon Whitworth

As a licensed professional engineer, I am responsible for leading junior personnel in bringing together various technologies to solve complex engineering problems and am responsible for planning, managing, and executing the technical tasks involved in implementing those solutions. I do this by relying on my ability to quickly grasp new concepts and over 20 years experience in various engineering disciplines. At my current company, APT Research, my primary focus is in the Explosive Safety and Testing group, where I use modeling, simulation, and testing to solve blast effects related problems. I also assist other groups at the company as needed. I also am the principal developer for and manage the development of the IMESAFR risk-based siting application. I am licensed as a Professional Engineer by the State of Alabama and the principal engineer at APT Research. Work areas: test planning and execution for commercial and government explosion test programs, data analysis, quantitative risk assessment, blast effects modeling, trajectory and orbit analysis, space asset risk assessment, ground and aircraft risk analysis, aerothermal demise analysis, cryogenic systems, rocket propulsion systems, systems engineering, numerical methods, thermography. Software experience: Julia, Java, Python, C++, C, FORTRAN, Linux and Windows environments I also have some experience working in a machine shop.
