Brendan DeMelle

Brendan DeMelle has over 20 years experience working on energy and environment issues for media outlets, NGOs, and his own consulting firm, At Ya Communications. He currently serves as Executive Director of the global investigative news outlet DeSmog, in addition to work as a digital strategist and researcher for various organizations and individuals, focusing primarily on climate change and energy issues, corporate lobbying, and global politics. His writing has appeared on DeSmog.com, Huffington Post, Grist, EcoWatch and elsewhere. DeMelle previously served as Research Associate for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. And Researcher for Laurie David, conducting in-depth, timely research on a wide range of environmental and democracy issues and contributing to books, articles, blogs and speeches. He received a BA from St. Lawrence University in Environmental Studies and Sociology in 1998, and began his career as an environmental justice advocate at EPA (Region 10) in Seattle, before returning to his home state of Connecticut as a Campus Organizer with the PIRGs. From 2000-2005, he served as Corporate Lobbying Analyst and then Legal Analyst with Environmental Working Group in Washington, DC, where he worked on the Chemical Industry Archives, nuclear and agriculture policy, among other issues. He is a passionate defender of the environment and democracy, and works intently to ensure a just and equitable society for future generations.
