Brendan Downes

I am an Adobe AEM Consultant, Cloud Solution Architect and Customer Engineer who is passionate about architecting, designing, building and operating scalable, customer-focused applications. I am responsible for understanding client business drivers, their requirements and translating them into technical system designs and proof of concepts. I hold a Bachelor of Computer Science from Curtin University and have experience in Adobe, Google, Azure and AWS cloud offerings. My 18 year career spans across the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Switzerland. Currently, I focus on supporting customers with creating compelling digital experiences using Adobe Experience Cloud. I also design and build big data and analytics platforms on GCP and AWS, with an emphasis on IoT, data streaming pipelines, data warehousing, serverless and containerised workloads, API management and data driven visualisation technology. I play in the GIS mapping software space leveraging products such as Mapbox, Carto, Google Maps Platform and Deck.GL. I also architect indoor and outdoor positioning solutions. I am an advocate of behaviour driven design and user story mapping to ensure the user experience drives a large part of application design. I care about improving people's lives and the communities we live in through technology and have a particular interest in clean, smart and renewable energy technology. I’m also an avid Formula One fan.
