Seventeen years ago, I walked away from a lucrative career in sales to pursue my true calling to become a high school teacher. I am a high school social studies teacher with 15 years of classroom experience. I spent my first 12 years teaching in the Nash-Rocky Mount school system and the last three years teaching in the Philadelphia area. During that time, I’ve gained a vast array of classroom and virtual experience including teaching AP U.S. History, International Baccalaureate History, U.S. History, and World History. In addition to the teaching experience, I have curriculum, course building and virtual adaptation experience. I’ve created curriculums for Turning Points in American History and a contemporary issues class known as Our World Today. I am equally adept at meeting the needs of all learners and am known for fostering inclusion and promoting academic growth for all of my students. My leadership qualities speak for themselves whether in the classroom, a staff meeting, or in my previous role as a department head.
