About

Author of six books and pioneer in the field of Faith-Based Diplomacy. He developed the Faith-Based Reconciliation process which is an innovative approach to diplomacy and peacemaking that has been developed over the past twenty five years out of his unique background in politics, theological and pastoral training, conflict resolution and international experience. This approach is defined by eight core values and by a deliberative process that focuses on softening hearts as a prelude to constructive joint problem solving. As a track two process it is ideally suited to the twenty first century national security environment which has seen the rise of religion and religious actors combined with non-state actors' increasing influence in the international order which has become the new normal. He is an ordained Episcopal priest since 1975. He has forty two years of experience as a pastor. He retired in 2017. He has thirty years of experience in international affairs in a variety of roles. He has spent eight years working on projects and initiatives in East Central Europe and the Balkans, two years in Sudan, eight years in Kashmir (India and Pakistan) and fifteen years in the Middle East (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Palestine). He is a trained professional mediator and an expert in mediating large scale political and identity-based conflicts.
