Implementation and management of software and hardware solutions in a multi-server environment utilizing Windows and Linux/Unix physical and virtual servers in standalone and client/server configurations. Management of the life cycle of servers and software. This includes the initial setup of servers and applications, configuration of software solutions to meet business needs, the ongoing task of monitoring and maintaining servers and applications including resource monitoring, provisioning, diagnosing and resolving of technical problems, the application of patches and updates as business needs dictate. Setup and management of VMware ESX and ESXi servers in standalone and cluster configurations including Virtual Center, DRS, HA and vMotion. Conversion of existing servers to virtual using VMware conversion tool as well as building virtual servers from scratch. Management includes the provisioning of resources with the virtual environment and monitoring of the environment to ensure the proper operation of the servers and application that the virtual environment is supporting. Implementation of backup and DR solutions for VMware including Veeam, Double-Take Availability and Zerto. Experience with Intel Servers (IBM, Dell & HP/Compaq), PA-RISC based systems running HP-UX, Storage Area Network solutions from EMC (Symmetrix, Clariion & Celerra), HP/Compaq (VA and MSA), Hitachi and Brocade (SAN switches). Multipath IO driver configuration for Windows, Unix, Linux and VMware ESX (PowerPath & native). EMC management tools such as Control Center, SMC, SPA and Navisphere. Network management of TCP/IP based network LAN & WAN. This includes configuration and management of network hardware such as Ethernet switches and routers (Cisco and others), setup and maintenance of network services such as DHCP, DNS, WINS, dial-in services, VPN and planning of physical network infrastructure.
