Brian Martin

I hold a BSc. In Astrophysics from Dublin City University and I am currently studying for a Higher Diploma in Software Development while I work as the lead mechatronic engineer at Iamus Technologies. During my undergraduate degree, I was hired as an Intern for Tomra Sorting Solutions as part of an engineering team designing optical food sorting machines. Throughout this internship, I was involved with many aspects of the research and development of new products, from the initial idea right through to delivery to customers. Some of the areas I worked in included optics, machine vision, mechanical design, testing, technical document writing, and programming. I returned to Tomra in December 2016 as a Mechatronics Engineer where I continued much of the work I carried out as an intern, and I also became heavily involved in circuit and PCB design, embedded system design, sensor development, large-scale technical testing, and test automation. In 2019 I joined Orly Technology as the Principal Engineer where I developed multiple IoT and smart sensor systems. In this role, I was responsible for everything from mechanical and electronic systems, to the full-stack software development of an intelligent sensor alert system and a remote monitoring dashboard. In my current role at Iamus Technologies, I am involved in all stages of the technical development of robotics and sensor technology. This technology is primarily aimed at the agriculture sector with a focus on broiler farming and animal welfare. Much of my focus in Iamus has been on developing low-power wireless sensor development and a full-stack software solution to gather and present valuable insights from both sensors and cameras through the use of edge processing and cloud applications.
