Since beginning my career I have about 5+ years being a front line sales rep for various companies. Success mainly came from the follow up and by finding opportunities to better myself. This came in the form of asking for feedback for improvement, becoming a subject matter expert, and looking for leadership opportunities. I have found you do not need a title to be a leader. Some of the most impactful leaders were peers of mine. As further opportunities presented themselves I took on the role of sales manager. Leading a team taught me that following up with my reps is equally if not more important than when I was following up with my clients. I strived to create a safe place for my team to ask for help when needed. My team taught me to celebrate and recognize the small wins each day. Those will lead to the big wins. As I was finding success with my team, I took on additional responsibilities. I became our ramping manager to help our reps improve speed to proficiency. I created resources and did trainings with each cohort each day for 8 weeks. As I got comfortable with the material I was able to simplify and restructure the content. I put on my UX designer hat and revamped our internal website. Having a centralized location for resources that was easily navigable was incredibly successful. We were able to shorted the ramping period from 8 weeks to 4 weeks and hire more frequent cohorts. As a specialist I continue to wear many hats. From senior sales manager to UX designer to trainer. I support a function of reps (100+) with onboarding, ramping, resources, and additional trainings. I am always looking for ways to improve and simplify processes.
