Bryan Filak

I am a mechanical engineer with 10 years experience, recently specializing in the structural design of dredges, a type of heavy machinery used for digging canals and waterways, replenishing coastal areas, and mining sands and minerals. Over the last 7 years at Ellicott Dredges, I have compiled a wide range of engineering skills. I gained experience with structural calculations, and selection of systems components. I have extensively used SolidWorks to produce detailed models and production drawings, and used FEMAP to perform finite element analysis. I coordinate with onsite welders, machinists, and assemblers, to determine manufacturability and find areas to reduce labor. In my current role as Lead Structural Engineer, I also have project engineer responsibilities and have supervised up to three other engineers. As a project engineer I will track progress of jobs by tasks using a MS Project Gantt Chart. I also track drawing completion using an Excel spreadsheet. I will also help with estimates, to determine hours necessary to complete a new job. My supervisor responsibilities are mainly distributing structural tasks, setting goals and deadlines for my team, and reviewing all structural design work.
