I’m always seeking ways to collaborate, to make us push the envelope, to make us stretch to find the better idea. Journalism has been the driving force to create and seed opportunities. I want to include those people who have been left out of the conversation – particularly youth, women, people of color, and those with lesser means. Journalism has provided me the opportunity to be in public forums, work in collaboration with a myriad of communities, to listen deeply, and to connect people who can make a difference. My approach is based on the fundamental belief that journalism can: • Reach deep into communities to provoke change and improvement • Provide meaningful discussion and synergies that create unexpected partnerships • Use positions of influence to shine the spotlight on good work that needs to be recognized and opportunities that desire attention • Affirm and encourage the intelligence and potential in the young and the eager
