I am an undergraduate neuroscientist skilled in electrophysiology, neuroanatomy, tissue culture, confocal microscopy, animal husbandry, as well as science writing and instruction. Currently, I have 3.5 years of research experience. In spring 2016, I interned at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in a developmental neurobiology lab. At the College of William & Mary, I am an Honors Fellow, the lead science columnist for our newspaper, a science tutor, and the undergraduate coordinator for the campus Makerspace. My senior thesis examines the neural development of brain stem circuits that generate and control breathing in mammals using RNA-sequencing methods. I am interested in conducting research that combines cellular biology techniques and rapid prototyping to address bioengineering questions. I plan to pursue a PhD in bioengineering, and I would like to apply this training in the field of neuroscience. I am also interested in gaining experience in a biotech startup setting.
