Cassandra McCambridge

I am currently a University of Rochester Public Health graduate working in Santa Barbara, CA as a medical scribe. I aspire to attend either medical school, nursing school, or PA school in the next 2-3 years. During my time at the U of R I participated on the varsity women’s basketball team for two years, one of which we successfully made it to the Elite 8 game of the NCAA tournament. Playing this sport has taught me many important aspects of life, such as having patience, intense work ethic, and unwavering punctuality. It has also taught me one very important ideal that I will forever live by: when working with a team, it is vital that every team member works together in order to be successful. There are no short cuts.Through many years of volunteer work, I have grown a love for volunteering, participating in humanitarian efforts, and making a difference in people’s lives. I volunteered in the Child Psychiatric Department at the University of Rochester Medical Center during my junior year, and I volunteered in the Emergency Department at Community Memorial Hospital back home in Ventura, CA for 4 years (250+ hours completed).My current goals are to continue my medical scribe position for 1-2 years while I decide my career path. From this job I hope to gain experience, develop more interests/knowledge, and build connections with great coworkers. In addition, I am currently taking EMT classes and hoping to be certified within this year to begin providing first-responder patient care in the field.
