Dr. Amnon Cavari (PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison) is assistant professor at the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at IDC Herzliya, head of the MA program in Political Marketing and of the Research Group on American Public Opinion (APOI) at IDC. Amnon specializes in American politics with specific research interests in the interrelationship between the presidency, public opinion, and political parties in the United States, as well as American elite and mass attitudes toward Israel. In his research, Dr. Cavari combines public opinion data with behavioral data on political elites. Dr. Cavari is the author of The Party Politics of Presidential Rhetoric (Cambridge University Press, 2017), co-author (with Guy Freedman) of American Public Opinion toward Israel: From Consensus to Divide (Routledge, 2021), co-editor of two books on presidential elections in the United States (2012 and 2016), and author of several journal articles. Before earning his PhD, Amnon did his legal internship at the Ministry of Justice, and worked as a lawyer at the Israel Democracy Institute, where he coordinated the project of writing a Constitution for the State of Israel and served as the institute’s representative at the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee of the Israeli Knesset.
