About

I am currently undertaking my PhD in Clinical Research (Biomedical) with the Wellington Cardiovascular Research Group (WCRG) under the supervision of Dr Kathryn Hally, A/Prof Peter Larsen, and Prof Anne La Flamme at Wellington Hospital. My research is funded by the Heart Foundation NZ postgraduate scholarship, and examines the role of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs) and neutrophil subsets in Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) using flow cytometry. I have developed a novel, comprehensive flow cytometry panel for the detection of NETs in human blood, which was funded by the Wellington Medical Research Foundation. I am currently using this methodology to identify the role of NETs in the acute inflammatory response post-AMI. Alongside this, I am currently developing a 18-colour panel for neutrophil subsetting by flow cytometry, and intend to apply this in parallel in samples from AMI patients. I have experience in multicolour spectral flow cytometry, panel design, cell culture, RNA extraction, and have worked professionally as a phlebotomist.
